![]() The basic concept of how this application works, it does by comparing one or more folders in their content, date or file size and later synchronizing the content according to user-defined settings. It is often difficult to remember which file, which directories you have changed or deleted, updated since the last backup.įreeFileSync solves that problem and can determine and synczar only those files modified, deleted, updated in your backup. When you want to make a backup of your HD, or any other disk drive, you have to keep it in sync for the file changes you make from time to time. It is optimized for maximum performance and ease of use without restricted or overloaded user interface interfaces. That is a free application data backup and file synchronization multi platform so it is available on Linux, Windows and MacOS systems.įreeFileSync is an open source folder sync and comparison tool. 3 How to install FreeFileSync on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and derivatives?.2 About the new version of FreeFileSync. ![]() This is for my photos files mainly.Īs I mentioned and one of the earlier fellows mentions, this changes the created date of ever photo in the folder I moved a couple files to, not just the 4 files that were added to the folder. The seagate drive is permanently on my home desktop and when I alter any files I back it to my morespace one a week or so so I have copies. The Morespace I take with me on the road and when I have files I worked on the road I sync new files only to the Seagate drive. ![]() This happened to folders on both drives as I synced some files going from the morespace to the Seagate. That's the creation date showing on all photos in the synced folder on my morespace drive, they show correct on the original folder 3:44:48 PM created date on the Seagate drive. Maybe they have an answer, but it is the exact issue for how it's showing.Įvery file in folders I synced (added files only not the entire folder) were changed to 8:09:52 AM. ![]() Nope, i checked both are formatted in ntfs. See below for a fix of the dates if you need one. LOL - I just rechecked my drives, and I must have read the properties on the same drive when I checked last time. It only happens on the created date with the software is making it's own new date. My network "IT" sons feel it is a code error where the software reads the date code in a different order (month/day/year or day/month/year) then reading the digits in the wrong order and then changing the date to how the software reads it. Unusual date tags anywhere will cause a company not to use an editorial image as they feel it may mean the exif was altered and you have to prove your information is correct. I verified that this does not happen with snyctoy, which when I use it to sync a couple of files to the folder I previously synced with Sync toy only alters the date on the files it touches, not the entire folder (too bad as it sets it to the proper created date) being the day it was created or backed up. This may not matter to most people but I do photography and I must manually alter the date on each file I submit for editorial purposes, included the created date to be accurate. It changed the folder created date, hence all the file dates in every file I synced to a year 2052. I wish I had known this issue before I backed up my Seagate External drive to my Morespace External.
